Interior Designer: O&A London
As part of an on-going series on the journal I am profiling some of the interior designers whose work I admire and who have used my patterns so beautifully. I find it so inspiring to see how these talented designers use my wallpapers and fabrics in their own unique way and I am hoping that it will inspire you and give you ideas of how you can incorporate pattern into your own home.
Today I wanted to feature the wonderful work of O&A London, founded by Oleg Klodt and Anna Agapova, whose work on projects across the globe has won countless awards. They design interiors for hotels, restaurants and stores as well as beautiful residential spaces, and are frequently listed within the top 100 interior design studios in the world. They are interested in contrasts of scale and how light and space react, their designs have roots in classical design but are suited to contemporary interiors. Initially Moscow based, O&A London was set up to consolidate the international side of their interior design practice.
Anna tells us a little more about a project where she used two colour ways of Briar Owl in the same home. “Owls are very special creatures and also full of symbolism. I used Briar Owl silver for some accent walls in a top floor room of the family house. My clients loved the result so much, that a couple of years later I put Briar Owl gold in the daughter’s bedroom, and it was an absolute game changer! The room was immediately transformed in an enchanted forest”.
“I’m always looking to create timeless interiors, especially in kid’s rooms. So when a child grows up the room grows with them. It’s about finding the links between an imaginary world of the childhood and the real one. These wallpaper designs work perfectly. I fell in love with the aesthetic immediately when I first saw the designs” says Anna.
