Interior Designer: Claire Zinnecker Design

As part of an on-going series on the journal I am profiling some of the interior designers whose work I admire and who have used my patterns so beautifully. I find it so inspiring to see how these talented designers use my wallpapers and fabrics in their own unique way and I am hoping that these posts will give you ideas of how you can incorporate pattern into your own home.

I love the work of Claire Zinnecker, founder of Claire Zinnecker Design, a boutique interior design group based in Austin, Texas. Her beautifully unpretentious design is soothing, clean and calm, she creates spaces that have a narrative regardless of whether they are residential or commercial. She founded the company in 2013 and her work has been featured in numerous magazines as well as collaborating with some wonderful brands.

The space I want to show you- is this workspace in the CAVU Ventures offices within a historic Austin building from 1853 that Claire designed. “CAVU stands for Ceiling and Visibility Unlimited which is a pilot's term for describing the best flying conditions so there was an aviation theme throughout the space. Seascape wallpaper evokes the feeling of air and movement, sophisticated with a playful side. Pairing it with the Victorian house was the perfect combination” says Claire.

When choosing a pattern Claire says, “I start thinking about what the room will be used for. I then consider the style of the room and the role I want the pattern to play in the space: add drama, infuse colour, how it relates to the architecture of the space, etc.”

The subtle monochrome wave design gives a fresh backdrop to the other patterns and textures within the room and it is refreshing to see Seascape paired with an aviation theme, showing that you don't always need to go nautical when using waves. I would be delighted if these images inspired you to use delicate pattern in your own home, whether you are about to embark on decorating your home or are dreaming of future renovation projects!
