My home in The Simple Things
The Simple Things is such a lovely, calming magazine and I feel very honoured that they have featured my flat in the July issue. The story by Rachel Leedham is over 8 pages with lots of pictures by photographer Alun Callender. I bought the flat back in 2011 when it was extremely unsightly and rather depressing in looks, safety and smell! It took about 4 years but now it feels like home. Here is a sneaky peek of some of the feature, to see the whole thing, check out the July issue out now.
On my mantelpiece: A sketch of deer by James Bateman; A contact sheet pic of Christine Keeler by Lewis Morley; a wooden antelope that belonged to my grandma; Dog painting by Eugene Wood. A tree etching I did a few years a go and a lovely Iittala owl.
The kitchen was originally 2 rooms and a corridor, but you can read about that in the magazine. The dining table belongs to a friend who couldn't fit it in her new home and the chairs are a mix of ones that belonged to my grandma that I have painted and Tolix. The lights are from a ship.
My whippet Claude is hanging out on an eBay sofa upholstered in Bird linen in watercolour with an Owls of the British Isles cushion cover. Brambleweb wallpaper is behind. But there are loads more photographs in The Simple Things.
