Here at Abigail Edwards, the environment is as important to us as creating exquisite wallpaper.  It’s a subject that’s close to our customers hearts too.

With sustainability at the core of our brand, we are proud and excited to be one of the first in the UK to print on a brand-new Eco non-woven ‘paste the wall’ wallpaper. Not only do we love its sustainable credentials, it’s also a beautiful texture and wonderful to hang.

Why is it different? Unlike other non-woven wallpapers, the Eco grade non-woven is made with 79% renewable raw materials. This includes 59% wood pulp fibres. The oil based (PET polyethylene) fibres have been replaced with 20% renewable PLA fibres (plant derived thermoplastic) that are created from fermented plant starch. The remaining 21% is a water based latex binder.

What does this mean? It means that approximately 30% less greenhouse gases are emitted during the manufacturing process of PLA fibres compared to PET fibres and the wallpaper is compostable. This is progress!

We’ll gradually be transitioning all our non-woven wallpapers (which include recycled plastic bottles as the PET fibres) to Eco non-woven where the design allows.

Currently, the following wallpapers are available on Eco non-woven wallpaper: Shells, MisselthwaiteSeascape at Midnight, in Moonlight, at Solstice, at Dusk and Owls of the British Isles.

If there’s a design you love that isn’t yet on ECO non-woven wallpaper, please do get in touch and a tree will be planted on your behalf for every roll of wallpaper that you buy!
