Interior Designer: Shelby Wood Design
As part of an on-going series on the journal I am profiling some of the interior designers whose work I admire and who have used my patterns so beautifully. I find it so inspiring to see how these talented designers use my wallpapers and fabrics in their own unique way and I am hoping that it will inspire you and give you ideas of how you can incorporate pattern into your own home.
Today I would like to introduce to a wonderfully eclectic designer- Shelby Wood. Initially based in LA and now working from a chateau in the South West region of France, Shelby started designing for the film industry in the late 90s before heading back to school to learn interior design in 2002. She then learnt the ropes by assisting anyone who would let her before launching her own company Shelby Wood Design in 2009.
Shelby designed this beautiful Venice Beach pool house in LA for two Englishmen from London with Owls of the British Isles wallpaper. “My clients wanted to play it safe, the owls were safe but wild at the same time. My contractor and I loved it.” The owl wallpaper and cushion covers have been paired with vintage furniture, to ensure that the space is unique.
After moving to France, the coronavirus pandemic hit, so Shelby has been focusing on the extensive work of restoring the chateau, currently doing construction work but looking forward to designing the interior, “I want a really colourful chateau,” she says. And personally I can’t wait to see the results!
