The Forgotten Room... the stairway
We pass through our hallways and walk up and down staircases multiple times a day but they are often forgotten, only considered after we have decorated our main living spaces. But the look and feel of your staircases affects the experience of moving around your home, joining the rooms together and creating a natural flowing space.
The images above are from my previous home in North London. Each time I walked up and down these stairs I would feel joy, the sun would shine in the window and reflect on the metallic gold lightening flashes of Storm Clouds wallpaper and the sheen of the paper as it wrapped around the curved Victorian wall was so satisfying.
The beautifully calm stair way above is by Blake & Sons Architecture & Design with the calm monochrome of Seascape in Winter Waves paired with doors painted in a muted baby pink giving an unexpected feminine twist to what would otherwise be an unnoticeable space.
And if you are feeling creative be inspired by Emma @little_houseonthelane who has very patiently wallpapered her stairs in Brambleweb in Nude. Wallpapering the stair riser is a wonderful way of using up wallpaper offcuts.
