Christmas Crafting- How to make a Leaf Garland

I hope you are feeling festive!

As we head into the holiday season, I will be posting a series of festive crafts on here throughout the next couple of weeks that can be made from wallpaper off cuts left over from your last decorating project, making your Christmas a little bit more sustainable and guaranteeing that your decorations will go with your décor beautifully.

They are all easy enough to make with children, but also perfect for making on your own with a glass of mulled wine in front of a Christmas film.

First up is a more interesting alternative to bunting, why not try making your own Paper Leaf Garland…

You will need:

•Wallpaper offcuts

•String, ribbon, or thin metal wire

•Scissors

Instructions for a Leaf Garland

-First cut out different size leaf shapes from your wallpaper off cuts, they don’t need to be perfect but do need a little stalk at the end of the leaf so that you have something to tie on to your garland. I chose a very simple, classic leaf shape but they can be any leaf shape you want. The number of leaves you need will depend how long you want your garland to be. You can cut out more later if you don’t make enough.

-Cut a length of twine or wire and tie two or three leaves in a bunch at regular intervals along the length of the garland, spread the leaves out a little to make a fan shape.

-Lastly hang your garland on the tree, around a mirror or along a beam, as we did.
